The need to clean hockey equipment has existed
since the beginnings of the game. The cool environment coupled with the
intense sweat from the athlete results in equipment staying saturated.
This is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, fungus, mold and yeast.
Proteins from blood, fluids and other contaminates like sports drinks
compound the problem
Hockey players worldwide are recognizing the benefits of cleaning
and sanitizing blood, bacteria, fungus and mold from jerseys and
protective gear using the our system.
• Eliminates exposure from hazardous organisms
(Fungi, Yeast, Bacilli) including MRSA
• Removes the decay that destroys gear
• (DBW) Waterproofed jersey stays lighter and
dryer (optional)
• Promotes enhanced hygienic practices
• Anti-soil agents help gear to stay clean, sanitary
Eliminates terrible hockey odor
Sanitizes hockey equipment
Why
is cleaning sports equipment such a big deal?
Space age, open cell foam that is so
common in modern protective equipment is the perfect breeding ground for
bacteria. The greater concern is the medical overuse of antibiotics
that has created a resistance and allowed new strains of bacteria to
evolve. They are deadly and difficult to treat. These infections can
cause permanent skin and done damage and in some instances have resulted
in player death.
If
dirty equipment promotes such a health risk, why haven't I heard about
it?
There was a time when hockey players
didn't wear helmets. Today, players are not allowed on the ice without
one. Cars used to be made without seatbelts. Today, all new cars have
seatbelts and it is illegal not to wear it. Why? Because research
proved that the risk of injuries were too great and their use was made
mandatory. through independent
laboratory testing, that dangerous bacteria were present in sports
equipment. Change requires research and time. In fact, Dateline, 20/20
and the Discovery Channel have been some of the few media to bring the
dangers of Staph infections and MRSA (the super bug) into the
mainstream.
Won't washing my equipment in water ruin it?
Most sports are harsh on equipment - that
is what it's made for. It takes a beating - gloves, skates and padding
are wet for extended periods of time. Our cleaning process uses mild
but effective detergents to deep clean into the foam and rinse away the
bacteria, blood and sweat. Equipment is held in place throughout the
washing process with no harmful chemicals, extreme heat or vigorous
agitation. At the end of the process, your equipment is returned to you
fresh, disinfected and ready for your next game!
How
can I be sure I am getting my equipment back?
The first step of the process is an
inventory and inspection of the equipment, at which time you will
receive a printed receipt outlining our commitment to return your
equipment cleaned and ready for your next game.
Since
you wear all your gear every time you play, it only makes sense to clean
and sanitize all you gear -- and your equipment bag -- every time as
well. This more fully eliminates unpleasant odors and health risks.
The stink you smell when you open
that hockey equipment bag is there for a reason. When you use your
gear, you sweat, when you're done playing you close the bag and let it
sit.
Take
Darren McCarty of the Detroit Red Wings, he was off 3 weeks for an
infection in the elbow, or Toronto's Mikael Renberg, he had to consider
amputation. These are professional athlete's in prime condition. These
guys are as healthy as it gets, yet their dirty gear can cost them their
career, even their life. |
