Clean
Gear’s standard cleaning process for protective gear with a four stage process. Each stage of the process mixes a
unique, specially designed additive into the wash water to attain a
specific goal. At the completion of all four steps your gear has
received a superior cleaning, unmatched anywhere in the industry.
These exclusive enzyme based soaps
have low foaming surfactants and anti-soil re-deposition agents that
help prevent soils
from returning to the equipment. The enzyme fighting stain remover helps
eliminate blood, proteins, grass and other organic contaminants from the
items. The low alkaline formula is compatible with leather and fabric
dyes and helps preserve the integrity of the tough to clean articles
like gloves, helmets and skates.
Stage 1: TAK1 Detergent:
This enzyme based detergent breaks down
organic compounds present in odor causing contaminants inside the
equipment. This first wash of the equipment helps to eliminate some of
the awful smell associated with dirty sports equipment.
Stage 2: Penetrate Detergent:
This powerful detergent is designed to
work deep into the foam and fabrics of the protective gear breaking down
stains and foreign bodies like mucus, blood, sweat, dander, fungus,
bacteria and mold that is common place in equipment. The low temperature
and neutral PH of the detergent is specifically formulated to work with
the our machine.
Stage 3: Force Additive:
This disinfectant works on potentially
harmful agents in the equipment like bacteria, mold and fungus. The
purpose of stage 3 is to eliminate all of these contaminants in order to
prevent players from being exposed to agents that can be harmful to
their health. Bacterial rash and fungal infections are just a few of the
more common problems that occur from wearing unclean protective gear.
Stage 4: Signature Additive:
This final fragrance is added to the last
rinse of the process to compliment the cleaned equipment with a clean,
fresh scent. This signifies that the equipment has completed the
cleaning process and is ready for delivery to you.
How exactly does Sports Gear Cleaners work?
Our unique system features a patented technology that cleans using
low-foaming cleaning agents that release enzymes into the water,
destroying odor-causing bacteria and fungus. View our “The Cleaning
Process” page for a detailed explanation of our cleaning process.
Why should I wash my equipment?
Here are just a few reasons to wash your equipment.
Properly cleaned sports equipment reduces the health risk for the
athlete associated with filthy equipment.
Clean equipment will reduce the possibility of infection from filthy
equipment.
Cleaning can extend the useful life of the equipment - thereby reducing
costs to leagues, associations and the participant.
Clean equipment is a benefit to teams during travel season when the
smell of the equipment makes storage difficult.
Increased value of equipment. Equipment that has been washed and
sanitized regularly by Clean Gear will sell quicker than equipment
contaminated with bacteria and fungus.
How do I know I will get my equipment back before my next game?
Will my equipment be dry when I get it back?
Yes, your equipment will be dry and ready for use when you pick it up at
one of our Drop Zones.
Do you wash all the hockey equipment a player wears?
We normally don’t wash things that traditional machines wash (underwear,
socks and towels for example), although we do wash entire sets of
jerseys.
How soon will the smell come back after it’s cleaned?
How quickly the smell returns will depend on the individual, how
frequently the equipment is used, and how effectively it’s dried after
each use. Under normal usage (1-3 times per week), equipment can remain
fresh for 2 to 3 months.
My equipment is old and has never been cleaned. Will the machine damage
my equipment?
Absolutely not. Our professional washing system features patented
technology and extensively tested cleaning agents designed specifically
for sports equipment. Your equipment is placed in an individual
compartment of our wash system, remains stationary throughout the entire
process, and never comes into contact with other pieces of equipment.
All equipment is carefully inspected and any defects will be noted
during this inspection. Equipment that is too old or already damaged
will not be cleaned . Unless the customer acknowledges the existing
damage and consents to have the equipment cleaned at their own risk.
If you can clean hockey equipment, can you clean other things too?
Yes! We specialize in cleaning and sanitizing hockey equipment. However,
our washer-dryer system, is also designed to clean
football, lacrosse, baseball, and roller hockey equipment, and more.
